Default Last Snow Fall?

Hey Guys,
When can you typically expect the last snow fall of the year?
We are moving from Southern CA and I am bringing 3 kids that have never seen it snow and I am sooooo hoping we will make it in time.

Thanks again for all your help!

Joann

Who knows?
I moved here mid-april last year. And 'just missed' the big winter storm/blizzard the month before.

Smile Early Spring?

Aren't we supposed to have an Early Spring this year? So if that's true I would imagine the snow to be over soon...

Usually at the end of March the snow ends....Sometimes it can snow into April.

March snowstorms are pretty common in Nebraska. One Easter, which was in April, we had a blizzard. I have photos of my kids with their Easter baskets in the snow. LOL

I hope your kids enjoy their first snow!

April is the transition month... not unusual to see nothing that month and also not unusual to still have snow on the ground with some coming down. On average the last Spring freeze is mid-April. Snow season is generally defined to end in April. The latest we have ever seen snow is 2' in May 9, 1945.

Last Spring Freeze
Earliest March 21, 1925
Average April 18th
Latest May 13, 1997

Most Snow in a Season = Oct-Apr
Single Calendar Day 18.3" Feb 11, 1965
Single Storm 18.9" March 14-15, 1923

Measurable Snow
Earliest 0.3" Sept 29, 1865
Latest 2.0" May 9, 1945

Most Consecutive Days with 1' or more
(75 days) Jan 14-Mar 28, 1960

fyi... was not sure where you were moving to... the above useless facts are for Omaha...

Last year we had to cancel school the first week of Spring due to the heavy snowfall, but it all melted a couple of days later. That is Omaha !

Nebraska weather is famously unpredictable. Standout example: one February about five years ago, it was 78 degrees one day, breaking the record for a high temperature that day. Literally 4 days later, we had snow and got the day off of school! Just this week, it was 41 degrees one day and got down to I think -1 that same night.
I personally love the variety and unpredictability. You get used to the fact that, in January, 30 degrees is warm, and in July, 85 degrees is cool.
