I'd have to completely agree with you on that one Rebel. The whole story simply doesn't add up to me. The last thing I think about after my daughter has been ganged raped is whether the community will believe her story. The only question is whether I go to the police before I go to the baseball bat store!! If the parents actually refused to press charges because of this ridiculous reason then they are absolutely horrible parents. Furthermore, the prosecutors office can press charges WITHOUT the parent's approval. Truth is...I think the story is a fabrication.

Who knows. It might be a fabrication, but if this story really is true, then that shows that race relations in this country, on all sides are still horrible. I wouldn't be surprised about gang rape. At the same time, I could probably understand why alot of people would say "oh they're just picking on the black kids again". The reason is probably related to the fact that for many years, that was literally the case, so in today's time, if there is a case of rape and the victim was of a different race than the person who was said to have raped that person, it is going to be a charged situation because of the fact that it could be seen as just someone being picked on. On the other hand, there have been cases of rape where this happens. In Georgia, there is the Marcus Dixon case. Alot of people saw it as a case of "southern justice" in racial terms. Not surprising considering that this is the South and there is alot of racial baggage left from the old days. I say race relations aren't improving if that story is true because if someone is afraid to speak up for fear of a racial backlash, then there are problems(just hidden problems). If the story is fabricated, then race relations haven't improved due to the fact that old-school racial thinking is still in play.
Now back to the gangs in schools.
If the schools are having gang problems, then get the police in ALL of the schools, not just a few.

I don't think the suspicious point had anything to do with the rape itself. It was the fact that the poster was claiming the female's parents would do anything about the daughter's gang rape because they feared they'd be looked at as racists. Again, that idea is simply silly to me.
Furthermore, if the girl was gang raped and the poster actually knows this (as he/she claims to) then she has a moral obligation to turn the boys in. The parents don't need to be the ones that act here.
I just think its fabrication because there are far too many issues that don't add up and I just think the person is taking the opportunity to lash out at someone...even if its fabricated. Also, when you combine the poster's first post along with another post she made the undertones of racism and hatred for minorities begins to seep through quite a bit.

LIE! Central is the largest in the state. I'd like to see the article that says otherwise.
I would recommend Central, it has gang activity, although less of it. At the end of the day it's about who you hang out with. Trust your kids to know better than to associate with the losers with jeans around their kneecaps. I did, and I value the diversity I got to experience on a daily basis.

When I went to Benson High, 1995-1998 there was a HUGE gang problem. They were actually featured on an MTV show around 1996 about gangs. I used to live near alot of the members, which were all drop outs but liked to hang in the parking lot across the street from my school at Gallagher Park. I remember some scary situations walking home, of people getting beat up or stabbed. When I transfered to North in 98' and my car got broke into, that's about it.

I would work on sending my kids to a millard branch - pref, Millard North or Millard West. Millard sound is a pretty decent school too. I wouldn't even consider either of the 2 magnet schools.
What part of town did you say you were moving into?

Honestly, unless you live in Millard, I would never send my kids there. There's not enough culture, diversity, and people are superficial. When your kid turns 16 and they don't get a car they will get made fun of. It's all about name brand clothes and who's parents have the biggest house for a house party. I survived going to notorious highschools in Omaha, and I learned alot about life doing so.

You can make a choice - send your kids to millard and have them be "picked on" ( which i used to come from a very low income family, and i was never picked on for it ) or the alternative is to get the **** beat outa you a few times and have metal detectors at each entrance.
Sticks and stones might break my bones but words will never hurt me
After the school clock rings, His glock might sing
And leave me cold and lonely
