I am moving to Omaha, Dec '08. I'm wondering, how are the IT jobs in Omaha? I know its a broad question but any information is good, thanks!

There are more jobs than people to fill 'em in most of the IT fields in Omaha. What specialty?

I personally can't say I know a LOT about sys admin/security jobs, as I'm more of a software developer/DBA guy. Talk to a few recruiting firms. CRI, Aureus and ASCIT are a few I've worked with. There's definitely opportunity and they are looking for good people. Aureus specifically worked their tales off to find me a job.

I would suggest you join the PMI chapter in Omaha.....it will help you make connections, and friends in the field.

Also, if you have any kind of security clearance there are additional jobs with the contractors that serve the military base.

Default this.

this is a field that is huge, Omaha is ranked in the top 10 for top US technology hubs..

We've expanded into space technology recently, and are pulling in a $600,000,000 google data center a few years after pulling in a cisco data center, we just grabbed the US military cyber command headquarters as the military reckognizes UNO as a top technology university, especially with the scott technology campus that has spun off a few good tech companies..

IT is huge now and is expanding here, many mega corps are reckognizing some of the strategic edges are the fiber optic layouts, massive communications grids, many strategic operations located here, middle of the country, one of the top 20 most powerful servers in the world is located at UNO where it is a well-reckognized IT school.
