Was looking at my Nebraska map and noticed that Bellevue is not highlighted in red meaning that it has a hospital. I got to thinking, I believe there is a hospital at Offut, but I could not think of any in the Bellevue limits. There is Midlands in Papillion, hospitals in Omaha and smaller medical centers in Bellevue so it isn't like they are without healthcare. I just find it interesting that Bellevue is without a hospital.

The hosplital at the base has for the most part been decommissioned and is more just a doctor's office/urgecare type thing.
They are however building a brand new hospital as we speak. It is part of the Nebraska Medical Center network... just west of 25th street on Highway 370... appears to be fairly large - I think I heard like 250,000 square feet... supposed to be open by the end of the year. |

Believe it or not, one of the biggest and most prolific industries in the Omaha metropolitan area IS the medical industry...
Every hospital in the city is currently under a massive expansion, plus there are 3 hospitals being built or about to get built.. Plus UNMC aka Omaha's second skyline isn't even close to being finished yet, lol.. Their are four new towers in the plans and they are moving saddle creek road to do this, plus a few other large scale (not towers) buildings in the plans for this area.. We are experiencing a current $1billion+ construction/planned construction of the health care field.. We also are the only city (I believe) under 3million people to have 3 major medical research companies ![]() |
