Moving Back
Hey whats up everyone! I know there are a few people on here that probably don't like me, but hopefully you don't hold any grudges against me, so please no negative comments, ok?
Anyway I just wanted to let everyone know that my wife and I are seriously considering moving back to the Omaha metro (Council Bluffs) for financial reasons.
Nevada's economy is way to sluggish and with $2 for a dozen eggs and $4.25 for a gallon of gas we aren't very happy here. I know there were alot of things I said I didn't like about Omaha, but when it comes down to it, we're way better off financially in Omaha and my mother-in-law is offering us free daycare so we can both continue our education and both work.
A double income vs. a single income and cheaper gas/food/rent will help us be able to save up some serious dough too, so it's pretty much set in stone that we'll be comin' back.
We just signed a 12 month lease with this apartment back in April though so we won't be back until April '09 but thats not so bad it gives us some time to save up enough for a U-haul (Penske) and to plan everything out. And they do throw an awesome New Years Eve party here in Reno, its like 30 mins of straight fireworks set off all around dowtown from the tops of 4 different Hotel/Casino... And loud music and they cut off Virginia street so people can get all in the street and get a great view. There is also drinks food and parties everywhere... It really is a nice way to ring in the new year! Also I will get one more Christmas with my mom in Cali so that is something I look forward to.
But I found that even more than the financial aspects of living in Omaha, I miss alot of other stuff Omaha offers from fast food (I know I shouldn't eat it) to just the way things opperate. Nevada is sooooo different and I don't mean it in a good way. Honestly the weather is awesome here, the scenery is beautiful, and the culture is diverse, but the state government has a Billion Dollar Defecit and they are talking about making k-12 school weeks only 4 days instead of 5 to help fix it... I'll be damned if my son gets an 80% education! The economy is sooo weak out here too i think its like 6% unemployment rate here... So with all that said I can't wait to get back to Omaha... Oh yea and I even miss my in-laws too lol!
I just wish I could get my old job back at UPS i loved my job but I know I probably won't be able to get it back... I guess you live and learn though...

Hey Rebel, all is understood..
I was in your shoes once and lived just down I-95 in Vegas, and believe me I really learned how good I had it here.
When you moved, Rebel, you needed that feeling of breaking the chains as I did. And when you initially came to this site, you probably were venting some of your frustrations about the limitations that you've had to abide by in this state.
Another thing I have learned Rebel, is that it is not a bad thing to go and experience something else for awhile to see what it is like out there in other parts of the country.
Also, the opinions you had on those posts where valid to you at the time you expressed them, and that's cool and I understand that no place is perfect.
I am happy that you are moving back, and I also know that you meant no harm at all, you needed to get the frustrations of certain aspects off of your chest and we all do that, thus you are human
If you need anything just message me..

I went to Montana for a year of college last year. Although I loved my time up there, I realized that Omaha is where I should be. I'm glad you were able to get out and experience something new to determine what you really wanted. Everyone should get out of their comfort zone for at least a few months in life. Glad to have you back!

Hmm...based on everything I've heard about casinos being a boom to the economy, one would think Nevada would have more money than they knew what to do with.
