To clear something up, minors (under 21) are allowed at all the events and would enjoy it, but for kids (elementry age) there are activities for them but some of the events later in the day are more for the older crowd.

I'm disappointed that I'm not going to be there. I'll be at a birthday party out in Gretna, and I doubt I'll be able to get away from my family...

What an entertaining thread! My partner and I (of 12 years...so much for that gays don't commit to each other propoganda), will take part in the festivities this weekend!
For the record, we would both CHOOSE to be gay in a second, if given the opportunity to go back in time and start over. Although I didn't choose it, I would. I LOVE BEING GAY!!!! If I hear one more ***** say he or she would never choose to be gay I think I'm gonna throw up. I just don't hate myself that much, and frankly, no amount of prejudice, or comically ignorant posts by morons on the internet will EVER make me stop LOVING BEING GAY!!!! Whooo-hooooo PRIDE!! That it irritates the narrow-minded just makes it so much more fun!
For those wondering about kids, my brothers and sisters take their kids down to the festival every year. They always have fun. When my partner and I finally bring home our bundle of joy, he or she is gonna be enjoying the parade and festival too. Although, he will wonder why his own parents can't marry each other....but I'd hate to let all those thousands of people out there clammering to marry their dogs change the definition of marriage on us...or is that not actually happening??

Yeah, I didn't choose it, I didn't want it, and, for the longest time, I wasn't happy about it. But once I finally accepted it, I realized that being gay wasn't all that bad. Right now, if I were given the ability to "turn straight", I wouldn't do it.

AGREED! I love who I am. I'm just glad I live in a state that has stood up for gay rights (and hopefully gay marriage will prevail in the Iowa Supreme Court).

Look, I can understand people who are not homosexual to question the gay pride festival..
But as a gay man, I at first questioned, but I have learned much about it and feel it is a way to remind society that we are here, and will remind you every single year... We also invite you to come join us at our festival and get to know us, we are not as weird as you might think, plus we have a tendancy to be very good people..
Some year, when you think you can stomache it, come to a pride festival and get to know us.. We want you too...

I was doing some searching and found this site called Omaha Gay Village. What do you think, does Omaha need a gay district like some cities have?

Well, here's a point you're definitely not getting. Heterosexuals aren't barred from certain things in life becuase of who they screw. Gay people are. The other aspect of gay pride, that perhaps you aren't getting, is to say to the world, "We're here, we're *****, get used to it!" Its about showing their pride in themselves, despite the fact that most society's are out to get them, if not even kill them for who they are. Its not just about celebrating, its also about the cruel reality of being gay in this world, and this country.
