So you can't marry somebody who has great property? Again, I guess you know how they feel.

The idea of marriage has held up very well not only in this country, but around the world for thousands of years. I don't think it's wise to start changing it to suit a few people.

Ahem. Exactly what do you mean by "lowering" standards? Those are fighting words, my friend!

This is the first time Pride will be held outside of the bar areas that I know of so it will be interesting to see how the general public responds. Come on down and give Jon Bruning a heart attack. Our beloved Attorney General who felt compelled to tell California's Supreme Court to ban same-sex marriages in their state. What a guy, right?
I'm also wondering if all of the news outlets in town will provide NO coverage of events again.

What are the details? Is this just a parade? What does the $5 admission get you? Is it family friendly?
Thanks!

Pride
This is open to anyone, but basically is a beer tent and live entertainment. I wouldn't bring kids as they will be bored and frankly out of place, but anyone else should have fun.

kd, are you still bothering these people? I bet you are a very nice person! These are nice people too! Please leave them alone and let them enjoy their lives. People torment them enough. It is hard enough to go through life being gay. I don't believe they need one more person attacking their lifestyle. I bet they would appreciate, one less attack and one person giving friendship and support, showing compassion. Wouldn't hurt you to send well wishes. That is the right way to be as a human being. Okay, let's chat again without having this same discussion.

Thanks for the info.
To bad I'll have to miss it. It would be great if they could expand it beyond the young single crowd.
And for what its worth, after having skimmed the whole thread (been there and done that on the politics forum) I'd like to say I'm a hetero mom w/4 kids. And yes, I would totally bring them to a gay pride event that was appropriate to their ages.

I know every year they try to get more stuff for people to bring their kids to. The parade would be fine but for a group of people that are largely childless it's tough to bring that element into the celebrations.

But what about all of those gay children - they were born that way and have have no nice festival to go to. They are being left out by the very group that wants them to have pride. This thing should be a huge carnival for the kids.

well, they have to suffer like the rest of us had to when we were kids, getting told why we are wrong, and how to fix it by your church, parents, friends and etc..
