Gay Pride Nebraska 2008
Friday, June 20th
Lewis and Clark Landing, Omaha
6 - 11 PM
$5 Admission (includes alcohol wristband)
GLBT Pride Parade - Saturday - June 21, 2008
Begins at 11:00 am. Old Market to the 10th St Bridge
************************
Nebraska Pride Festival - Saturday - June 21, 2008
Noon to 11 pm Lewis and Clark Landing
**SHUTTLE WILL BE PROVIDED FROM THE MAX TO THE LANDING**
This is the first time Pride will be held outside of the bar areas that I know of so it will be interesting to see how the general public responds. Come on down and give Jon Bruning a heart attack. Our beloved Attorney General who felt compelled to tell California's Supreme Court to ban same-sex marriages in their state. What a guy, right?
I'm also wondering if all of the news outlets in town will provide NO coverage of events again.

When is heterosexual pride day?
I don't much care what a person does in the bedroom...and I don't much care to have a parade celebrating it, either.

As soon as you all get together and decide you want to have one.

Nah...gay people adopt kids, too. Heck...many of them have kids before they decide they're gay.
As for us deciding to have our own day? Maybe we just don't care enough to celebrate our bedroom activities in a parade or "pride day".

wow kdbrich, that is a terrible statement..
A lot of these people either want kids or are scared to live their life as a gay person because of society and comments made like the one that you just made..
That was a very weak statement and they aren't celebrating 'their bedroom habits' in a parade, but its a way for them to feel confident about themselves and who they are despite all the jerkoffs in society.. It is also a way for gay people to establish the fact that no matter what people like yourselves think of them, they will always be there. No matter what laws, or how many public beatings, no matter how many religeous folks that picket our property, etc..
And congrats on your decision on staying straight kdbrich, your a better person for it..

It's really sad that something exciting has gotten turned into gay bashing yet again. Come one, just let this be a happy announcement!

It's no different than a 4th of July Parade saying "Look how proud we are to be American!"

This type of parade shows other people in cities around the country that Omaha is not completely full of hicks.
This is essential to attracting and keeping a creative and educated young work force that will continue to economically benefit the city.
Whether or not you are gay, young people have a far more tolerant attitude toward this lifestyle and are choosing to live in places with more accepting and vibrant downtowns.

I'm sorry...I don't mean to bash anyone. But I just don't understand the idea of having a celebration of one's sexual choices, then getting upset when people treat you differently because of it.
If that means I'm "backward" or a "hick", so be it.
