Ralston generally has holiday parades. I will call my daughter on Monday and get back with more information when I find out.
Rosenblatt Stadium has a grand fireworks display of course after their Royals baseball game around 9 pm or so.

I did some research, and evidentlly there are none in the area. I was mistaken.
There are various activites going on in the city and surrounding area though if you care to check it out:

Ralston has the best in the metro for a parade on the 4th.
Here is a link to information on the Celebration: July 3-7
Entries line up along 80th, 81st, 82nd and 83rd coming onto Q and Highland coming onto 80th. So the parade basically runs from the starting point at 80th& Highland (Q st) and ends downtown by the post office/police station...
Plan to get there a little early to find somewhere to park, walk in, and get a spot to sit...
Been attending this one for over 40 years.. a great tradition

Thank you Dave for the up-date. I did find out, as you said, and was intending to post this morning, but am happy you did!
We have been busy cleaning up fallen trees around our back yard and got busy.
Ralston does indeed get involved.

My three favorite spots to sit are either:
The inside curve at 80th & Oakwood... the yard slops up so you can easily see and the street is wider at that point so different groups tend to perform at the spot. This is at the start of the parade so nothing is bunched up nor no big gaps of parade entries, plus everyone is refreshed and high energy at this point.
The outside curve at 77th Oakwood (Main) as you leave the residential area and it starts to go into downtown... again, the yard slopes up so you can see and again the street is wider at that point.
The front lawn of City Hall across from HapAbram Catering - same reasons.

I think Ralston also has the best 'overall' fireworks display in the metro. It's an impressive show... and perhaps it's best attribute... if you park in the empty lot immediately south of Kush property... right up against the street... you can be out of there within a minute (as opposed to the hour or more when getting out of neighborhoods around Rosenblatt).

I agree with you, but I miss the "good old days" when Ralston shot off the display in the middle of the residential area between the elementary school and junior high... you sat on the hill of the junior high, they put on a formal program (talent show, etc), then had skydivers, then the fireworks which were shot off less than 100 yards from the crowd - talk about being in the experience... then after many many years along came the insurance company with that little concern about liability - no more big all out show - but at least they did keep the fireworks and picked a good replacement spot by Kush's.

Ralston Parade
Does anyone know how long the parade is in terms of hours?
