The only thing diverse about Los Angeles is that you have your Crips, Bloods, MS-13, Mexican Mafia, drug-dealers, rapists, killers, car-jackers... Everybody's got a diverse criminal history there (well not everybody, I exaggerate, but I believe my point is well-made). Los Angeles is NOT an accurate representation of the nation.

When people say "diverse" they should simply say what they really mean, "lack of white people" and be done with it.

OMG have you ever actually been to LA or just "seen it on TV"?!?! The above is a completely false and ridiculous notion. Plus it indicates to me that you think non-white folks are all gang-bangers and criminals.

There are tons of whites in LA dude, gimmie a break.

Do you really believe that? LA is not 90% non-white. Give me a break, have you ever been there? I think you are thinking of Johannesburg, South Africa, or maybe San Juan, Puerto Rico?

Diversity is all about having lots of different types of people around, living different lifestyles, with different religions, and languages and different worldviews etc. Race is only one aspect of it.

In Omaha, it seems like most people are just really on the same page and in the same mindset. Most people grew up with the same cultural values. It's just a very traditional American vibe. And that is not really a bad thing anyway. In some ways it's really good because it can make the community tighter.

Stacy, I was born and raised in Los Angeles, I visit every year, of course there are tons of whites but L.A. proper is hardly the land of the white person. To the tourist it is minority, gangs, crime, etc. I know 2 black families here in NWA that left Los Angeles because of gangs and crime. I know the area I was raised in and the part of the city my kids were born in, none of these areas are even safe at night. The better and safer areas are not Los Angeles proper but a few surrounding areas. I wonder how much time you have actually spent in Los Angeles? I would guess very little.
90% non white is an exageration for sure, but it is majority minority; that is not an exageration..
Nita

Your kidding right? Do you know where Omaha is? Its in the state in the middle of the country, 3 down from Canada with a fat Panhandle in the west.

Who says that map is the authority on it anyway?
Maybe the red goes into the uber-extreme southeast portion of Nebraska but Omaha is here,

In Central eastern Nebraska, about 100-150 miles north of it

Well, my family who's lived there since the 50's all call it the bible belt. I'm not gonna argue about where the faded red line stops on a map that came from who knows where.

Why do all these idiots try to make me feel like I im not cultured or something growing up in Omaha? Im half middle eastern from North Omaha... no redneck here sorry. Have you been to the south? Omaha is nowhere near the bible belt, I meet more bible thumpers here on the "left" coast than I ever did in Omaha. Get over yourselves. Viva la Omaha.

Your family might also call it Salt Lake City, but that doesn't mean that it is.

Some people just like to whine and moan. Others try to get attention by complaining. And there are obviously plenty of people who think they're making themselves look important by putting others down.

No city exists for the purpose of catering to a few perpetual complainers. So if somebody hates living in Omaha, they either need to change their attitude or move away, because the city doesn't owe them anything - just like it doesn't owe me anything. It just is what it is.

I have moved away from a place I didn't like twice. In each case it was a good move. That leads me to the firm conviction that there are a couple people, posting on this thread, who need to move away from Omaha. Omaha is not going to change. And if they're not going to change, they need to do themselves a favor and leave.
