I've seen all I care for of Omaha, Ive seen pics and heard all the latest info. The city just dosent seem to catch my eye too much, some of the pics were nice but then again every city and town has something good to photograph. There are just so many better places in my opinion.

I think this thread is stupid, and validates all I have said about the Omaha posters. That is all. G'day!

okay. That is an opinion I can live with, informed, respectful, and finding the city just doesn't fit your description of great. Fine by me!

I guess some of the problem is- it certainly doesn't qualify as big city ala Chicago, Boston, etc., and it certainly doesn't offer the outdoor activities of Denver, Seattle, San Diego, etc. It just seems very "eh"

Some of us did take geography at some point in our K-12 education and could find Nebraska on a map. Most people out west are very familiar with it.

And some of us have studied heavily in geography and can name almost every capital city, except for African and those tiny little islands in the pacific.

I'll play along. The Minneapolis area has:
* 18 Fortune 500 companies (31 Fortune 1000 companies total).
* Some of the largest private companies in the country
* MLB, NFL, NHL, NBA, WNBA, NLL, and WPFL. There's also also minor league baseball, plenty of DI sports and of course, roller girls.
* Lakes
* Excellent music scene; local, national and international
* Two skylines
* Transit
* One of the largest college populations (public and private) in the country at over 100,000.
* Nicollet Mall
* Miles and miles of bike lanes
* Radio stations that play REAL music (ex. 89.3 the Current and 90.3 KFAI)
* Largest urban, Native American population in the country
* Largest Somali population in the country
* Largest Hmong population in the country
* Largest Oromo population in the country
* Second largest Liberian population in the country
* Second largest Tibetan population in the country
* Hundreds of thousands of people that could care less about zoos.
I'm already bored with this game. I'm sure someone from a different city/metro is more than willing to play.

I'm sure Omaha's a great place. I imagine many of the people who talk down about Omaha also talk down about Sacramento (as it's often labeled as a nowheresville cow town), but if you really spend time in the city, you understand why it's a great place. A lot of people (especially on this message board) don't give smaller cities half a chance; the fact is, many of these places have lots of unique and awesome attributes about them, but because they are not so flashy as the world cities, you have to take more then five minutes to really appreciate and understand them.

I've never been to Omaha, but from everything I've heard and read about it, it sounds like a very pleasant place to live. No, I think you have it great!

...
this is my last post in this thread, that I started..
The only thing that we don't have that people have stated thus far are:
mountains
oceans
major league sports (which 3 division 1 schools don't count, I suppose)
Disney land
We can kill this thread now..
