Moving to Omaha and need recommendations for a good barber and hair salon.

Also, where to get good home cooking.

Thanks

You might want to start a post in the Omaha section on this, I am sure you will find more help there with the question.

Welcome to Omaha and Nebraska.

Can't really help you with the barbor/salon, haven't had my hair cut professionally in years. For home cooking you can try the Farmhouse Cafe which is by Mangelson's, or if you're okay with a chain, I really like Cracker Barrel. There is one at I-80 and 144th st and on in Council Bluffs at I-80 exit 3 (can't remember the street name). I'm sure there are others but I'll let the Omahan's point you to the best places.

I can totally help you out with this one. Home Cookin' = Jim's Rib Haven, Time Out Chicken, Famous Daves, Joe Tess's Place, & Big Mama's Kitchen. For African American styles/cuts there's a ton around Ames Ave. I grew up around there and I remember one called Big Jim's? Anyway. Good luck, and I hope you love Omaha.

Thanks to everyone for your answers; your suggestions are appreciated. I'm looking forward to the move. Big Mama's Kitchen sounds awesome. We called my great grandmother Big Mama, so the name appeals to me already.

One of those Food Network TV shows was just in Omaha and filmed at 4 or 5 places... these were two of them..
