Ring a bell with anyone? I looked through the posts and I didn't see anything that sounded familiar.

I think the restaurant you are thinking of is (or was) Trovato's; which was located in the Dundee area of town. About 51st and Underwood. They had live music on the first Wednesday of the month and the establishment was setback from Underwood Ave more than the other businesses like the Dundee Dell. I think it went out of business a couple of months ago which is sad because it had been there for a long time, before the neighborhood became trendy; not that that trendy is a bad thing, just expensive.
For my favorite restaurants I like Rivera's for Mexican Food. They have good Enchiladas de Mole and good chips and salsa, I also think the tequila chicken tacos at Lil Burro are very good too.
For Steaks you cannot go wrong with the Whiskey Ribeye at the Drover, even though the decor of the place is like going back to 1975. My Father said it was originally a place called the Cork and Cleaver before it became the Drover.
My wife and kids like Malara's for Italian food (their sauce is on the sweet side but they make their own pasta), I like Bianco, but it is a little expensive and cramped so it is only for special event occassions. (birthdays, Valentine's Day, etc.)
I don't take offense to or think I am better than chain restaurants, but I am just going to put my favorite places to eat that are unique to Omaha. By the way, it would be neat if either In-and-Out Burger or Steak and Shake would come to Omaha.
