I used to love Alvarados in CB right there on Broadway! They make the best Carne Asada tacos and if u wait until they give u the food to ask for sour cream they wont charge u extra!
I love the mexican food out here in Nevada too but I still miss Alvarados.

If you're looking for a good burger, Danny's Bar and Grill at 70th and Blondo rocks. I used to work at a place where I had to take lunch at 10:30 am (I worked 6 - 2:30). Me and a friend would head down there because it was the only place serving lunch besides fast food.

M's Pub for contemporary in the Old Market {try the crab cakes, yum!}.
V Mertz in the passageway if your having dinner with someone special.
Vivace for northern italian in the Old Market.
Howard's for mexican in the old Marcio's location on south 10th.
Gorat's for steaks on Center if your into the old steakhouse experience.
Good gosh, so many choices, so little time. ;-)
I've lived in Lincoln for the last 9 years but am an Omaha native and now buying a second home in downtown Omaha cause I miss home!
BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT. While on a condo hunting mission last month, went to Trovato's for the first time in quite awhile. I found out that John has sold the place. The bar area is much better now, a cool layout but had dinner there and it was marginal at best. This is the place where I had my first date with my wife with dinner followed by watching Indigenous in the bar area before they got popular. I stood 5 feet from Mato while he wailed away like Stevie Ray Vaughan - incredible! A magical night of good food and good fun that is now tainted somewhat by this latest experience. :-(

Will have to check it out.

In the Article it says that he "sometimes makes recommendations". This is a bit of an understatement.
Once when I ordered a feta cheese sandwich, he said: "You don't want that, it's a salad on bread. Do you like eggplant?" To which I responded that I didn't know. He said that I would like it, turned around and proceeded to make me a dish with eggplant as the main part. It was fantastic.
The guy is awesome.
