Default What should I see?

Hi everyone. I'll be in Omaha for a job interview on Monday. I'll have a few hours on Sunday night and maybe an hour or two after the interview before my flight. Do you have any recommendations of what I should see of Omaha in that short time period? My family has always lived on the East Coast, so a move to the mid-West would be a pretty big deal. Where should I drive? What should I look at to help determine whether Omaha is for me and my family?

I should add that my spouse and I would surely visit again before making a decision if I do receive an offer.

Thanks in advance.

Definitely check out the Old Market. I'd recommend heading to Myth or Urban Wine Co. I'm friends with both of the owners and they are very knowledgeable about Omaha and deal with many new comers to town.

I'd also recommend driving around the Dundee, UNO, Memorial, and Elmwood area.

Default come and enjoy!

Just up the street from the fabulous Old Market, on 10th street you should visit the Durham- Western Heritage Museum. Once you enter the old train depot, you will be taken back in time. You will enjoy what it has to offer.

Just a slight farther, take 10th to Bancroft, turn left (before our world class Henry Doorly Zoo) and you can see the breathtaking Laurentzen Gardens on 2nd and Bancroft .

Gosh I just love my neighborhood!!!!!!!

Wow. Thank you so much. This is exactly what I was looking for. I'll be sure to post after my trip. I doubt I'll have time for museums or the zoo this time around. Hopefully there will be a next time.

If you've only got a few hours to kill, I'd recommend the Old Market. Head on down there, wander around for awhile, maybe get some dinner. The zoo, the museums, etc, are all good if you've got a day or two.

If don't have the time then go to the Old Market and the RiverFront...

Color me impressed. I found Omaha to be beautiful. I'm amazed at how reasonable housing is in Omaha given what I've heard of the vibrant economy there. How do home builders make a living? I think I expected the homes to look run down - like builders would have to use substandard materials or something in order to keep costs so low. I was pleasantly surprised.

If my interview went as well as it seemed to, I just might be relocating in the near future...
