for those who use Metro Area Transit buses

what are the best and worst routes and when and why

my favs are the 14 and the 55 and the 8 and 16

my pick for worst:

Bus Route 13 on Sundays which dosent go between Crossroads Mall and the Stockyards

bus route 30 cause for some reason on sundays it goes NO further north than the old Shopko in Florence

(while Mon-sat it goes up towards Calhoun Road and then turns around

the council Bluffs buses also are bad on Sundays cause they dont run before 10 am for some reason

I hate th number 3 its a two or more block walk to get the bus. Then it has never met up with the 4 or the 14 since 1967. Then the 92 bus in the evening does not want to complete it route when they have new drivers. Whoever came up with the no one will have to walk more than 2 blocks to get a bus forgot about the hills in Omaha. Oh year some fool from Calif.

actually it dont exist in Papillion (other than the express route)

and seriously, for West Omaha and Lavista and Elkhorn, we need something other than a express route for those areas

I believe when Lavista gets the new stadium (hopefully)

Mat Bus will be forced to have a bus route (non-express) to lavista

the CB routes suck on sundays cause you cant catch the bus into Council Bluffs before 10 am

I wish the 10 would run all day Sunday thru Saturday. It only seems to run when I don't need it. Plus with the new hotels near 10th and Cuming, they could run all day and extend the route to that area.

btw, I've been thinking of starting an Omaha Bus Riders Social Network. What do you guys think of that idea. Get everyone talking about the bus system, including complaints and suggestions and sending them to MAT.

I think that would be a good idea

BTW, I know about the 10 route. it goes around near Lauritizen Gardens.

I think the reason it dont run on weekends, is there is hardly anyone on it during the week.

I have been on it a couple of times and both times, it was just me and 1 other passenger.

But if they expanded the route to include the new hotels, the saddle creek building and the qwest center, I would think the ridership might increase. Also if it ran more regular times as well. I'm usually the only person on it if I'm riding, although one week there was a population explosion of about 4 people!

Mayor fahey brought something up about building up the area between the zoo and downtown, between 10th and 13th streets. That would be nice.

I agree that building up the area between the zoo and downtown, between 10th and 13th streets is needed
