Make excuses for the dems if you want, but I'm still waiting for Pelosi's first 100 days that were going to be so grand.
And yes--people are attacking Palin with a hatred I haven't seen in awhile. She's the VP...not the prez. Maybe she didn't have the administration's policies down 100% immediately--it took obama a year after announcing he was running to determine his platform. The only thing we've heard about, for the most part, is "Change". Sure, he throws out a few buzzwords, and catch phrases like "lower taxes for the middle class" (who doesn't want lower taxes?).
Actually though...there will be some change. Stuff like higher taxes and income redistribution.
If you like socialism, vote obama in 08.

Do you get your talking points directly from Sean Hannity or do you read any other publications than Fox and the World Herald. Try the Washington Post, it isn't thrown in to the "Liberal Elite" category for you.
Obama has extensively outlined everything he has proposed. They aren't buzzwords. He has been interviewed repeatedly and has outlined a whole policy for tax cuts on people making under $250,000. He also stated that he wanted a timeline for Iraq. Now who else is on board? Bush, the Generals, everyone but McCain.
What kind of information do you want on his proposals. You can't just lie, and say he throws around buzzwords and has no real plans. Look at his website and read for 5 minutes.
Yeah, Obama hates babies who were supposed to be aborted but lived....
C'mon man, if you really believe that kind of crap then you probably refuse to see other sides of the picture.
Are country has given republican's and republican policies a chance for 8 years. They don't work. You can't spend more than any time in history and reduce taxes on corporations. The 4th grade math doesn't work. You can't deregulate financial systems until greed and thievery are virtually legal.
Did you watch the Republican Convention? Is that an accurate representation of America? Old, White...???....
If you are voting Republican in Nebraska based on abortion and gay marriage and you aren't wealthy, then the True Republicans have duped you again. "Screw em' on education, healthcare, higher education, transit choices, energy prices, safety....but they won't care as long as we put those two issues out there."

Also, do you understand what a Veto is? How is it possible to push anything remotely democratic through congress when Bush says he will veto anything that he disagrees with.
Blaming Pelosi is crazy. There has been very little democratic legislation in the last two years. It is still controlled by an uncompromising administration.

Do you disagree that he's the most liberal guy in congress? Or that he votes with the party line 96% of the time?

Ok. He wants to surrender in Iraq. That's what it is if we pull out and abandon the Iraqi gov't. Why do you think our military tends to vote republican?
He's also said he'll give tax cuts to people who make less than $250 k. Great. Where is he going to get the money from? He's going to tax small businesses. What happens when businesses have more of a tax obligation? They cut salaries. Woo Hoo....glad you're getting a $300 tax cut...because when you lose your job you'll need it.

I haven't gotten the slightest indication from him that he knows how to accomplish what he's doing. What legislation has he introduced in the 2 years he's been in congress to make you think he can?

You're drinking some serious kool-aid if you think that it's only republicans to blame for this crisis. You do realize that the NY Times ran an article in 1999 stating that Clinton was encouraging Freddie and Fannie to give loans to the less-than qualified, right?

No. I really didn't. I'm not a hard-line republican. I don't vote straight party-line.

Do you REALLY think that obama will be able to find the money to spend on all the free handout programs he's going to push?
As for your comment above about no democrat legislation? I don't know who started the bailout package, but I do know that your candidate was on tv (along with mccain) stating that it would fix it. When it failed, Pelosi went on tv, whined about it, and it got pushed through with 300 pages and an extra 100 BILLION worth of pork.
Now, we see the market still collapsing.
I'm sorry. Socialism is NOT the way to go.

Well, we could go back and forth on this until the election. I guess we will just have to disagree.
Fortunately, from my point of view, I think Obama will probably win in November and then we can talk about this again in 4 years.
Last point, the "Pork" you speak of included salary caps for CEOs and banks insuring people's money up to $250,000. A bipartisan plan. Not a Pelosi plan.
If you truly don't think Obama stands for change and McCain does, you live in a different reality then I do and I don't think we'll agree on much.
And, as to your question of "where will the money come from?" i believe Obama has stated on numerous occasions that alot will come from the $10 billion a MONTH currently spent in Iraq.
Final question, when don't you vote the party line?

kdbrich question
Why is it, in a Republican dominated state since the 1930's, do we Nebraskans pay higher property tax rates than virtually anyone else in the country?
Explain that in the "Republicans are for lower taxes" stance.

Yes, we'll have to agree to disagree.
I actually voted for Ben Nelson. I can't remember some of the others...but I have voted democrat in some of the local elections, as well.
As for why we pay higher taxes? We have 1 major city that supports an infrastructure to the rest of the state.
I didn't vote for Heineman (I voted for TO), but I do know that "Guvnor Dave" has reduced some taxes.

Come on guys, for both sides there is a ton of ammo to bag on each other with.
Let's just face it, neither side looks nor has presidential qualifications.
Yes, Palin sounds like a dumb*ss when she speaks and it's probably because she's in over her head. No, Obama doesn't have a great resume. And I have to say with regards to this election, McCain’s POW experience is rather arbitrary to his possible presidency.
Let's all agree on one thing, we're screwed. Seriously though, tough times ahead regardless of who your vote is for.
One last thing, we did lose in Iraq and in Afghanistan (We cannot afford to sustain these wars).
And that is a direct result of Rep/Dem economic policies. People need to think of better things to do with their fingers rather than pointing them.

That's whats great about this country--we get to vote.
Unfortunately, some folks tend to vote w/out thinking. Ultimately, your vote is your vote, and don't let me or anyone tell you who to vote for.
But I was curious if the people voting know why they're voting for their guy.

I hope after this thread you think we are at a difference in opinion, not a difference in intellect.

I'm not accusing anyone here of being without intellect. I merely started it by asking if the people voting for obama have a reason other than that he's a democrat.
