You better believe it! Where else can you find (sometimes) awesome bands playing for an affordable price in small intimate places like Sokol, Slowdown, Waiting Room, Mick's, Murphy's, Shag, and there's O'Leavers, Ozone, the nasty casinos (I know, but I saw Flaming Lips do an awesome show there!), the Anchor Inn, 49'er. Don't forget Bright Eyes, Connor Oberst and Saddle Creek.
Take my word for it, talent lives in Omaha. Quietly, mostly.
In the summer, Playing with Fire concert series puts on 6 or 8 evening-long FREE Blues concerts along the river front. And there are the FREE Memorial Park concerts and plenty of others.
Many won't believe me when I say this, but I saw Paul Simon do a live show for about 100 amazed and spellbound people along the riverfront on the Iowa side. It was unadvertised and astounding.
ANd, jeeze, now one can walk or ride a bike across the Missouri River over a truly beautiful bridge.OK, that's not music, but it FEELS GOOD!
