Staci, you should try Grand Fortune for Chinese, its in West Omaha at the Lakeside area and then there is also a really good Vietnamese place near that called O Mai, in the Tivoli Strip Mall.

Actually all of the restaurants in Omaha are more expensive than what I am used to! I guess the local economy must support it.
Just went to Jaipur again last night...mmmmmm. If you ever go there try the Jalapeno beer. Its soooo good.
Thanks for the heads up GoNe. Vietnamese tends towards the meaty, but I do love me a good bowl of Pho every now and then.

If you go to Grand Fortune ask for the "other menu" and you will get the menu that serves authentic Chinese food. When I order from this menu they always ask twice and make sure I know what I am getting into, probably because I am not Chinese and they do not want me to be disappointed. I usually get the Bok Choi with Chinese mushrooms and I add on the Chinese pork (has alot more fat like bacon). They also make a scallion chicken but you have to order a day in advance because they slow cook it. I have heard their fish dishes are also good.

CAMPING!
Hi, I was wondering if you know where that large Korean market is in Bellevue. I'm also Asian moving to Omaha for an employment, and hoping to stack up on some Korean food.

Sakura Bana (74th & Dodge) is probably the best Japanese restaurant in Omaha, but, being an Asian food geek (I live on the East coast now), I've found most (if not all) of the Asian restaurants in Omaha are just OK---although I do love HuHot Mongolian.

HuHot is awesome. Has anyone tried O Dining & Lounge downtown? I heard it was good.

O dining is very good, and I'll go back, but it's very Americanized Pan-Asian.

I found a good Korean restaurant in Bellevue, just outside of the Offutt AFB gates simply named Korean House.

I don't think you have much to worry about prejudice. The southwest Omaha/Bellevue area seems to have a lot of transplants who grew up in more rural areas that may not have seen a lot of diversity, but there are just as many here that are used to it. I don't think you'll have a problem with your husband being white either... most folks are open minded and if not, prefer to express their opinions privately with others who are of the same mind. If anecdotal experience serves me, I believe I've heard from a few friends that there is more pressure against interracial relationships from within that ethnicity or racial group. Granted, that is mostly within the Vietnamese community, and the ones I know are either immigrants themselves or the children of immigrants. All the [white] people I know wouldn't give it a second thought about an asian and 'white' couple.
Good luck with your upcoming wedding! I hope all goes smoothly for you and your husband!

I don't know where the Bellevue store is, but I will be seeing a friend who has shopped there in the past later in the week. I will ask her where it is.
In the meantime, the Korean grocery on 84 & Center is not that far from Bellevue and they have quite a lot of different products.
