As far as issues in Omaha, taxes are a big issue. The economic slowdown is already forcing Omaha to cut.

I believe Omaha has cut a bit and did so by following the lead of other major US cities because of the credit crisis. I think it's just more of a proactive action rather than reactive.

My sons live in the Minneapolis area, and there's a definite change up there. It's not that there's an economic crisis, but there's no way to deny the fact that there have been a LOT of cutbacks.

Omaha, on the other hand, seems to be rumbling along just fine.

The Omaha World Herald already had an article where some Omaha gov/t departments will be more undermanned than usual, a direct result of the slowdown. Don't think for a minute that we are immune. We might go thru this slowdown better than other areas in the country, but we are not immune to its effects.
