Those pics are beautiful! Though, damn, if it doesn't look cold. If I had balls, they would freeze. Don't know how I'll stand that. 60 degrees is cold to me.

Just don't stand around outside and you'll be fine. I have a friend that just moved down the street from me from Florida. He's managing the snow just fine and he doesn't mind the cold. Just because it's cold doesn't mean it's freezing.

I agree at the *most* it is too cold to stand around outside for up to 2 months out of the year, and there is alot of indoor activities that are here that you can go to without having to be outside very long at all.. It's not like when it is cold here that everyone goes into their basement and digs a hole out of their wall and hibernates their until it warms up again...

most years the nasty cold weather is 2 weeks to 1.5 months out of the year, chilly weather can be 4-5 months, but the bad stuff isnt as long as before

Spoken like a true Californian! I can relate--when it's in the 50s here in SoCal, I'm already wearing my heavy jacket.

Winter driving
How about learning to drive in winter weather? I would think that someone like me who comes from a warmer area of the country might have quite an adjustment to make, i.e., how to drive on icy roads, when it's snowing, etc.
Also, do you folks in Nebraska ever deal with your car door locks freezing in the winter? I understand it could be a real inconvenience, especially if you were in a hurry to get somewhere.

dennismpat - I can't speak to your first question, but on the locks part I've never had my door locks freeze on me. One of our cars is garaged, so it doesn't tend to take the brunt of the weather. My car (initially a 98 Camry, now a 93 Taurus) stays out in the cold and neither gave me any problems on the lock front. I've had other cars when I lived in Iowa & Minnesota and they were "outside" cars if you will and only on my 73 Grand Am did I have trouble. But that was 'cause a neighbor kid jacked with the door handle one summer and it never really operated correctly after that.
