I was thinking of this tragedy during this past week. Very, very sad. It was difficult to even read the accounts of it. We lived in Bellevue for 3 years. We love the Omaha community and the quality of life in Nebraska. It hurt to read about the innocent people who were senselessly killed at Von Maur.

The one positive thing that shone through was how the Omaha community responded. It is still a wonderful place to live. Terrific people. People can reach out for help if they are sincere about turning their lives around.

Sending good thoughts your way this holiday season, Omaha Nebraska.

Prayers to the families of those lost in this tragedy. I still remember the sick feeling I got when I saw the breaking news story in the cafeteria at work.

As I reflect back to this horrible tragedy, I remember when my wife and I took our three grandsons to the memorial. It was cold that night, but yet a sense of warmth prevailed over the hundreds that were present that night as everyone assembled to pay tribute. It is certainly a day we will never forget. God bless the victims who had their precious lives ended during a time of giving and sharing.Thank you Go Ne for posting this memorial.

I remember the memorial, it was one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen, I wish they could have preserved it somehow. I wonder if there will ever be a permanent memorial.

I thought I read somewhere that someone (possibly the Douglas County Historical Society) had taken alot of the memorial and was going to use it to make a permanet display?

I agree with you and Victor. As horrible as this tragedy was, I wish I could have been there to see the city pull together and support each other.

Hopefully one of the local news channels will be there to cover the event, and then put it up on their website so I can see it.
