Default PROOF,that Omaha is still a "Redneck Town".

As of 02/25/07 the tree of lights X-mas decorations are still up on 90th & Dodge.

Here I was expecting to see the story about the recent horrible hate crime which was commited in northeast Omaha... instead this?

This is of course the Salvation Army Tree of Lights tree... granted it should be down by now... but how does it still being up qualify Omaha as a redneck town?? Care to explain?

According to Jeff Foxworthy, this is one means of measuring rednecked-ness. Christmas decorations still up pass a certain date, and it's a sure sign of it. I, for one, take Mr. Foxworthy's comedy routine as gospel.

Default Glad Omaha Isn't a Redneck Town

Being an African American female, I can tell you my idea of redneck is a helluva lot worst than Mr Foxworthys version or this picture might portray. I don't think keeping a Christmas Tree up past a certain date makes this town redneck. They're probably too busy doing other things, which is a good sign for me. They won't have time to hassle me or give me a hard time

City Planners envisioning a west Dodge Street with no stop lights........20,000.00

Building a west Dodge Street over pass and making travel in west Omaha much nicer.............25,000,000.00

Driving east on the overpass and finally stopping at 90th & Dodge Street and seeing Christmas decorations still up two months after Christmas.........................PRICELESS.

You have an unusual sense of humor WarnYou.

And by the way... the expressway bridges actually cost $100,000,000.

Relying on Jeff Foxworthy to tell you what is or what isn't...pricless. Who's the redneck now?

WARNYOU ~ I’m confused with your posting of why Omaha is a redneck town?

Are you saying that because of the very cold snowy and icy weather this winter that all of the men in Omaha can’t get out of the house and take down the xmas decorations because they don’t have shoes, or that they are too lazy to move the bloodhound off their lap to getup and go out side. Or maybe you’re saying that someone else would drink all of their beer in the refrigerator while they were outside dealing with the lights. Maybe they are all busy inside the house watching re-runs of the football games, and practicing their goose calls for duck hunting season?

Or maybe you could ask the question: “ how many rednecks will it take to remove some xmas lights?”
Now that I don’t have an answer to, but maybe there aren’t any rednecks in Omaha?
