Question Apartment utility costs

Hello! I'm planning on moving to an apartment hopefully soon and I was hoping everyone could help me out. I am working on a budget and was wondering what the average utilities are for an apartment in the metro area. Thanks in advance! Your help is much appreciated!

I hate to tell you this, but it's just about impossible to answer your question.

Some apartments make you pay for ALL utilities, while with some you pay for none. So you'll have to find out from individual apartments, how their payment plan is set up.

I pay roughly $200 per month, but that's for ALL utilities, and is for a rather large house.

Also, there are apts that are in all kinds of varying shape (from a maintenance perspective), all different ages, and all different building material/quality.

Do you have a specific apt complex in mind - that might help drive to an answer.

Well I live in an apartment in West Omaha, and we pay for gas and electric only... well the other stuff is included in our overpriced rent I'm sure

Around 32$ a month for Gas (during right now, the winter months... i think its around 20-25 otherwise)
and then a set monthly payment of like 74$ for power. The TV and internet we pay for is another 50$ for the basic stuff.

Hope that helps!
Good luck.

Thank you all for the responses. Megs517 I appreciate the Dollar amounts it's really helpful. I am looking at a 1 bedroom apt where they pay the gas which will be convenient. I am mostly concerned about electric. I know it depends on use and size and floor of the apartment but any information/help is appreciated. I understand there is a big variance but just to get some ballpark estimates is better than nothing. Thanks again!

Gotcha.

I'm assuming that, by paying the gas, they're paying for the heat. And that's great, because you can actually have quite a bit of control over your electric bill.

I think $50 per month is probably going to hit you pretty close.

Also though, be sure you know whether or not you have to pay things like water, garbage, sewer, etc

Please note a couple things about your electricity bill:
1. OPPD will probably make you pay a rather sizable deposit and hook-up fee. Don't be surprised if you have to drop $100 up front.

2. Do everything you can to lower your electricity bill. Turn off lights. Turn off appliances. Don't leave your computer on 24/7.

Have fun in your new apartment!
