Sheesh, this gets old. Omaha.com Metro/Region Section

So we had a double-homicide at 62nd & Ames the other night. As with virtually all the shootings in Omaha, there's no question that those involved are career criminals.

But you'll ALWAYS have a mom, an aunt, sister or friends saying stuff like, "He had trouble with the law, but he wasn't into robbing!" or "He was working really hard to get his life on track."

They want to try to convince us that those involved were really innocent victims. Yeah right...



Kind of like Michael Nordmeyer, shot in the Ralston area of Omaha last week. Nobody can figure out why anybody would shoot such a nice young man. A nice young man that "just happened" to have had an arrest for drug possession, and later, carrying a concealed weapon. Omaha.com Metro/Region Section



Sometimes I think we'd all be better off if we could somehow round up all these people, put them in a huge cage, and let them all kill each other. Let them do their thing in a controlled area, so that no inoccent bystanders are involved.

In the past month and a half there have been three robberies, a kidnapping, and now this, all within blocks of my house, I feel like joining the NRA!

I'm a gun-rights advocate, though all I have is a BB Gun. And I have no intentions of getting a serious firearm.

But I think there are a lot of people that are getting so sick of this crap that they're going to start arming themselves. And frankly, I'd love to see neighborhoods just declare war on these punks.

That would be awsome except for the fact that a large portion of the "good" population are morons. I would be very nervous for many poeple I know to be carrying weapons.

hey guys you can all come live in NWA, we have lots of people from NE living in our neighborhood and every week our local paper prints the police report. Geeze things like a sick racoon was reported wandering down the street or a guy complained cause his wife threw a wine glass at him and broke a lamp. Stuff like that happens here all the time...

Believe me, when I get to Omaha I will be getting a concealed weapon permit there as well.

Jesus are you all crazy? Adding more guns to fix the problems with guns? Right....

If you're in a convencience store being robbed with a gun and you pull out a gun all you're doing is exponetially increasing the chance of the robber opening fire with whoever else is in the store in the way getting hit.

Gotta disagree here DTO. Lots of places (esp. Florida) opened up the concealed carry laws and saw no increase in crime, while often seeing a decrease.

If you're in a convencience store being robbed with a gun and you pull out a gun all you're doing is exponetially increasing the chance of the robber opening fire with whoever else is in the store in the way getting hit.

As a firearm owner, I can tell you that isn't really true. There have been many instances of citzens with concealed weapons ending these situations and the only injury/death being the robber.

Just takes a little knowledge, training, and sometimes even restraint.

On the other hand, if you happen to have a concealed weapon in a convenience store, and one of these worthless thugs comes in, you could very well end the problem right then and there.
