Florence and North Omaha aren't the same thing. They're two completely different areas that abut each other.

A very isoloated part of Omaha is getting so violent... I had a map that showed every violent crime on it and it was very apparent where that was... not a city-wide panic... if I can find that map I will repost it.

Look at all your options before making up your mind. Florence may be for you but check out all your options before deciding. Its a major decision to make... one you have to live with.

My in-laws have lived in the Florence area for almost 40 years. They have decent neighbors, and have never had anything to fear.

A few years ago when my wife and I were contemplating moving to a larger house their neighbors moved. We considered buying their house. The really telling thing was that although they loved the idea of being near their grandkids, they discouraged us because they knew it wasn't a good place for a young family to move into.

Apparently you're confusing North O with Florence - and vice versa.

They are NOT the same area, though the very SouthEast part of Florence abuts North O.

I know lots of people in the Florence area - specifically the part that is West of 30th Street. I wouldn't hesitate to raise a family there.

i didnt say florence and north omaha are the same place but they most certainly are the same area. 30th and ames is very dangerous and my aunt in florence is a few blocks away. when you have kids you dont just sit home in your 2 block area you travel for school and sports and your kids will be driving someday. do you want them driving a mile down the street and hitting north omaha even to pass through. what school do florence kids go to? just wondering cuz i dont think there is a florence school. i used to drive to 30th and lake every other week and everytime there were cops surrounding one gas station or another. i guess i just want my kids farther than a mile away from violence. i prefer it on the other side of town at the least.

I used to live on 33rd and Ames and walked by 30th and Ames all the time. I never had any problems or felt unsafe. There's a police station right there. How much more safe do you need to be?

And there are tons of schools in Florence. My brother went to Minne Lusa when we lived across the street from there. There are many elementary schools in Florence. I don't know if there is one specifically called Florence but what does it matter?
