Unless things have changed since I was in High School, which is almost 15 years ago now, Cruising was never something we did. Especially since Omaha banned cruising on Dodge Street.

Here are some other things my wife and I do:

Creighton Basketball
Omaha Royals Baseball
Omaha Beef Arena Football
Biking/Running on the many trails in town
Walking through the botanical gardens
Concerts at the Slowdown/Qwest other venues
Opera (wife likes) at the Orpheum
Joslyn Art museum
Smithsonian exhibits at the Durham Western Heritage Museum
Pedestrian Bridge (sort of like the trails mentioned above)
Golf at the many cheap but good courses in town
Going to any bar (there are plenty) for a drink with friends
Eating at a good restaurant there are many in town (not Applebee's; sorry if thats your favorite)
Going to the Surfside Club (If you have not been you need to go, eating fried chicken or fried catfish and corn fritters while sitting next to the Mo. River watching people on their boats is a trip)
Going to Film Streams to watch an independant movie
Going to the Community Playhouse (not the one in Mills County IA) for a play with local actors
Farmer's Market in the Old Market (I think it is on Saturday morning)
Coffee Shops (we used to live 2 blocks from Caffine Dreams)
MIdnight movies at the Dundee Theater (always some fun classic movie playing)
General Admission at the College World Series, where the real fun is !!!

Sit at Soaring Wings Winery with a bottle of wine and listen to good music during the summer.

There are actually quite a few wineries in the area. You can also include camping and hiking. Mahoney State Park and Indian Cave are nice places. Don't forget the casino's though I probablyonly go once a year.

Omaha has a great system of jogging trails, I'm a runner so I like that.

There are a number of annual events in Omaha to go to:

Taste of Omaha
Summer Arts Festival
Shakespeare on the Green
College World Series (as already mentioned)
Jazz on the Green
Other summer concert series (many shopping centers like Village Pointe, Shadow Lake, etc hold free outdoor concerts on weekends)
River City Roundup
Santa Lucia Festival
La Festa Italiana
Oktoberfest (I like the one at the German American Society)
Fireworks at Rosenblatt after Friday night games during the summer
Various Farmer's Markets (like the one downtown during spring thru early fall)

I'm barely scraping the surface...

worth mentioning, if you like art, food, wine, and FREE: many art galleries will host opening nights for their exhibits with free oers'devores (sp?) and wine. You need not be artsy to attend...all types show up, from the nicely dressed to the grubby students to the average joe who wandered in as they were walking by... some examples are Hot Shops, Artists Cooperative Gallery and Bemis Center.

I could list many, many more... but I have work to do!

Casino in Coucil Bluffs? I went to the club there and had a blast. Women actually came to our table, sat, and introduced themselves out of the blue. That doesn't happen in CA.
