I had just returned from my grandsons school and sat down at the computer to check on my e-mail as my wife and young grandson laid down for their afternoon nap. I heard some footsteps running along the side of my house. I suspected it was a tree trimmer coming by to give us an estimate. I got up from the chair and heard the back screen door open up. I thought for a few seconds that it was my daughter...it was not. I came face to face with two young Hispanic males. I asked them bluntly, "What the hell are you doing in my house!" The shorter young man politely responded ,"we just want to use your phone sir!". I was ANGRY . I told them FIRMLY, "YOU DON'T JUST COME INTO SOMEONES HOUSE TO USE THE PHONE...GET OUT NOW!" The two looked at one another. One apologized and they exited the house . They stood out on the back porch area and I followed them, again telling them, "Get OFF my property, NOW!"The partner asked his accomplice in Spanish if they should exit at the gate. The one I had been talking to told him in English they would jump the fence. They did. They ran across the yard and hurdled the privacy fence section toward the back part of the yard. I grabbed my cell and keys to call 911. By the time I walked down the steps I saw police cars blocking Spring street. I called for one of them to come. The officer ran to me. I asked him if they were looking for a couple of young Hispanic males. He answered they were and the officer asked me if I had seen them. I told the officer that I had just kicked them out of my house! He seemed surprised.I pointed in the direction they ran to. He ran back to his partner and told her to grab a rifle and moments late our house was surrounded by officers of the Omaha Police Department. Some were from the gang unit. Others were in plainclothes, but wore what appeared to be bullet proof vets with POLICE markings. We also saw a couple of Police German shepherds and their officer partners. It was like being in the middle of a movie! More excitement that I did not expect on an otherwise nice, but chilly, sunny day. I am glad the two were caught by Omaha Poilice.

Click on link below. We took a few good pictures of the ordeal not seen on TV.

That is a very scarey story! And you, madam, are a very brave woman. Your bravery probably saved your life because these animals prey on fear, and who knows what would've happened had you reacted otherwise. Thanks to you, these criminals are off the street and the city of Omaha owes you a debt of gratitude.

I can just picture the shocked officers face when you told him you gave the dangerous criminals the boot. He must've thought: "Wow...she'd be a great addition to our unit!"

Actually, I am a man...Victor.

I am not sure what engaged in me, but I do know that I was angry at them.

Omg! I am so glad you and your family are ok, and that they were apprehended by police. I can only imagine the rage and fear that would have surely overwhelmed me upon discovering strangers about to walk into my home! I get so angry just when shady solicitors ( we're here with ABC to check your security system..funny, {I think} I use XYZ..grrrr) ring my doorbell. It's horrible that all people don't choose to live a responsible, crime-free life. They're missing out!

Maybe not mom2toddlers, when some one violates your home space, you would be surprised that certain mechanisms kick in. I am sure you would have done the same.Living a crime free life is wonderful. I am angered at the fact that these two came in looking for who knows what, but on the other hand it is somewhat sad that these two were only 16 and 21. I wonder what their parents think of their sons.

Takes alot of balls to just walk in someones house. Many people would have shot them! Glad to hear they were caught and most of all, you're ok!

Might be time to invest in a 12 gauge shotgun!

Kudos for your quick thinking!
