Best steak in Omaha??
I'm new to town and sometime here I know that I will want to take my wife out for a steak dinner. We're not afraid to spend some money since we like to make the most out of the times we get to go out (we have a baby). Just want some opinions, if you could only go out for a steak in Omaha once a year, where would you go??

I would go for the Whiskey Ribeye at the Drover. Not the most fancy or expensive place in town, but it is a local non-chain place with mouth-watering steaks. It is just West of 72nd Street at Mercy Road behind the Travel and Transport building.

You might want to try Piccolo's - down on South 20th Street.
It's old school. Has been there for many years. A good friend of mine, who is quite the food enjoyer, says it's the best steak in town.
I've only been there once - for a wedding rehearsal supper. It was good when I was there.

I've heard mixed reviews of Piccolo's some seem to love it others seem to think it's time has passed. I'll score your advice in the plus column for Piccolo's

Haven't been to Piccolo's alot, but was never bad...
I vote for either the Drover or my backyard - we get our cornfeed beef butchered at the locker in Wahoo - a little garlic pepper and grill it - kids won't order steak in a restraunt because it generally is not as good...

I enjoy the home steaks as well, nothing like a steak cookout with good freinds and family.

The best steak I've had was at Omaha Prime in the old market.

Isn't it too pricey given the quality that you can get at a lot of cheaper places around?? Don't mind paying their prices when I'm traveling outside of cattle country, but when here I have a hard time...

It probably isn't worth the price difference, but it was the best I've had. Maybe I was just really hungry that time, idk.
I have to agree that there is no substitute for the home cooked recipes. People are able to season them the way they like it, where as restaurants have to have a more neutral seasoning for all types of poeple. I also do not know a restaurant that will lightly marinate my steaks with Maggi =)
