There are a few pockets to avoid in North and South Omaha, but beyond that you can pretty much move wherever you like and not have much to worry about.

Exactly. Most areas of Omaha are pretty low crime. People tend to assume anything east of 72nd street is crime-ridden. But there are some absolutely stunning areas east of 72nd street that have little to no crime at all. Crime is going to happen wherever you chose to buy a home, but we're fortunate here in Omaha to have a fairly low crime rate compared to other cities the same size.

Yeah, I've never understand that Stigma. Hell, I lived at 41st and Ames and saw very little crime in that area. There are very few neighborhoods in Omaha that I would refuse to live in.

If they were asking about Omaha why would they title the thread Mccook ne, are they asking about Omaha or Mccook? Also, the poster is from Washington, so they may be confused that McCook is no where close to Omaha. By the way I know nothing of McCook, get me West of Lincoln and I am pretty much lost, would like to know the rest of the State better though.

Yes, GMin is right. I live in WA and am looking at the McCook, NE area. Any comments about areas to avoid in McCook would be appreciated. I haven't heard much negative about McCook.

Will laugh WITH you, not at you, when you arrive in McCook and want to re-phrase your question.
You will merely want to know, then, where the newer home developements are and if it affects your tax valuation.
There are some beautiful, old victorians as well as 1970s and '80s vintages that are close to the Junior College campus.
