so that should help christians looking for christian programs on tv who dont have digital cable.




BTW, this whole thing about channel 23/109

IMO is nothing more than it's hosts like Frances Mendenhall and Steve Zach and


others with shows no watched when they were

on 23


and now that they are on 109


whinning and wanting people still no one is pay attention to them.

While not widely watched I do believe the cable networks should keep some public access program available on the basic tier. Provides for alternate programming and a local alternative voice - a good thing in open dialogs.

I agree with your overall fundamental point that locals need free access to those channels.

I do disagree with what some of the local programming gets away with. It's actually infuriating to watch sometimes.

Don't disagree... but, do I want to put up with a few odd balls to retain a free voice or provide strict censorship and keep most voices?

Probably for me somewhere in the middle - don't want porn related content or lots of swearing/cussing, so I'm all for some tupe of "community standard" rules. With that I'd rather risk a few odd balls to keep the integrity of public access.

there already is 2 public access channels on basic cable


channel 17 and channel 22 and also channel 18 is somewhat public access as is channel 2 to some extent.

when it was on channel 23, there was some vulgar language used by some of it's hosts.


if channel 109 was moved back to basic, there needs to be some responsibility by its hosts on their language they use


cause some I remember got vulgar or slanderous on their shows.

That's a good word for it. If one or an organization has the ability to broadcast to large numbers of people, a certain responsibility should also be adhered to.

I 100% agree with freedom of speech, but I also agree with basic freedoms of others. That includes speaking of others honestly and or "certain" others with some amount of decency.
A lot of what I've heard has been pretty hatefull, and of course, slanderous.

I too 100 percent am for freedom of speech,

some of the shows on channel 109 arent even local shows.



Democracy Now isnt a local show.

it is a show on the Free Speech Tv cable channel which is a even more liberal then MSNBC like channel.

a number of shows from FSTV air on channel 109.



I though cox channel 109 was supposed to be for local shows only.



Cox might as well add FSTV to the channel lineup in the digital channel lineup since a number of its shows air on a "public access" channel.

It's not the cable company's responsibility to provide local programming. It's a nice thing to have if they want to...but I don't see that they're required.

Does anyone know...does any of the others provide local access channels?
