I think that what you are trying to do here is very noble and I am sorry that most of these people here are either laughing at you or saying it is a worthless point to do anything about this. It is typical of the mindset of most (I didn't say all) Omaha residents!!! LOL. They can support their football team but when it comes to something that is polluting the minds of their youth they are totally against it..

It is amazing to see the responses on your post... Just keep at it.. Eventually you will find someone who cares more about moral values than football.
Really?? Maybe we disagree with the guy because we recognize that it is much much more efficient and instructive to raise your own kids instead of making all of society conform to OUR view of morality!

The pot shots about Husker football are ad hominem by definition. Furthermore, they are completely and totally irrelevant.

To suggest we care more about freaking football than morality is so unbelievably asinine I don't even know what to say. You come to that conclusion because we disagree with censoring music??? Maybe teaching self responsibility and teaching our kids how to function in a society where they sometimes have to use judgment is unimportant to you. Maybe you are dependent on society to raise your children for you. Maybe you think its best to make the rest of society conform to YOUR opinion.

Instead of just throwing out ridiculous comments about "husker football" why don't have a grown up conversation about the matter?

There are approximately 6 billion people on the planet. And living in the United States you are going to be faced with things that YOU don't agree with and think are repugnant. Teach your kids how to filter these things out on their own and take on some responsibility of your own.

Further, why do you come to the conclusion that Omahans are more worried about Husker football than morality?? Simply because there are fanatical fans in Omaha?? Why do you then conclude that we don't care about morality?? My point is you made a remarkably judgmental pretentious holy-than-though comment and in my book that's treads on immoral. And I know that I would never want my children to grow up and behave like you. So I guess I can either demand you quit acting in the insulting and offensive way that you do OR, alternatively, I could simply raise my children in a way that will help steer them from behavior such as yours.

Wow!! I will give you an A+++ for the great comment and flowery wording. Very good... I applaud you for your response here.

Well, first of all I have to admit that on occasion I get kind of over zealous for the underdog or the person who I viewed as being completely ignored when he/she posted this thread. The OP was very concerned about a matter and was reaching out for some sort of support. As I read through each response I became kind of angry and it made me upset to see that most of the responses were very insensitive. Nobody addressed the issue but skirted around it like it was of no importance to the OP.

Then in the typical nature that I sometimes get myself into (responding out of emotions) I commented out of anger instead of walking away and cooling off and returning later with a more appropriate answer.

You are right.. I had no business judging everyone, making sweeping generalizations and making the comment on football. I was just upset. Music and Movies (when they are giving negative or bad messages) is really a pet peave with me. I was very impressionable as a teenager and I believe that music contributed to my teenage troubles. Therefore, I am totally against bad lyrics in music.

I think it is very important that parents teach their kids how to stand up for what is right. I really believe and was disappointed in the reaction to the OP's concern. And by the way, I do teach my children that they do not live in a bubble. There are negatives everywhere and ultimately their choices will either reward them or get them in trouble. I am a very pro-active parent in this regards. You don't know me but I agree with you... I shouldn't have made such a stupid comment... My apologies and thanks for your comments.

And one last thing, I don't think the world should conform but people have the right to make comments or give opinions to whatever they want. Some of these musicians are making millions on trash, sitting in billion dollar homes while kids are commiting suicide while listening to music that says it is alright...go ahead take your life.. That is not alright and not cool...I am not saying that this band in question is giving that message but hopefully you get my point here.

Have a great week.
