Default Best side of Omaha to relocate to for housing.

I'd like to know what side of Omaha would be a good place to relocate for several months? I desire a safe very low crime area, convenient for shopping, and scenic if possible. I'll be acquiring a furnished rental for my spouse. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks.

The best location would be in the West side of Omaha.

Most of Omaha is scenic and safe to live in. There are several nice areas on the near-north side around 24th and Lake. Rents tend to be less expensive there. Happy hunting.

Wow Why would you want to send this person into north O max? That was really horrible.
I know this post is late but if you read this please stay away from any areas North of Dodge St. between 50th and 1st st. The specific area said by MAX is a drug infested gang related area.
nice areas are Bellevue, Papillion and Lavista. Anything West of about 60th st. South of Dodge st. there is also Council Bluffs IA just across the missouri river in Iowa about a five min commute to downtown omaha. Small town feeling with all the big town extras.

My son lives in Omaha, near oldtown. I know it is higher crime, but if you are aware, and like the shops and the activity's of the arts, and do not get into drugs and be with the people that you know taht are drug free too, you are as safe as being in Bellvue. Whcih I totaly agree with. it is a nice nice area as the others listed too.I do not like the idea my son living in the area he lives in, but if you don't have the money...it is the cheapest area. But like I said. If you play safe and use your head, you will be fine.

I am not from Omaha, but have been there several times. My boyfriend lives in Papillion and he loves it. When I brought up the subject of moving to the city, he was sure to tell me the areas to avoid, and Cougie, you were right on the money.

If you stay west of 72nd Street either north or south you'll be fine. There are pockets of great areas east of 72nd but you'd have to live there a while to figure out where they are. From 90th and Dodge you can access any area of the city within minutes ('cept rush hour lol). The school system is about to undergo major flux due to passage of LB1024 so most districts will be opened up to minorities in a year or two. Do a google search to learn more about that. Overall it's an okay city. Lots to do if you have money.

I have lived in Norfolk for a very long time. Where are you moving from? What type of job? There are nicer areas of Norfolk and then less then terrific. The economy is really in a slump. Housing market is good for the buyer, they are selling slowly. The city is slowly getting better since the meat packing house closed. It will take a few years, but eventually I think the city will be an okay place to live. Not much here to do or see. What are you looking for? Crime...well it is much better since the packing house closed, shopping leaves much to be desired, but then again, I guess that depends on where you leaving.
Ask away and I will try to answer your questions.
