Omaha American Family Insurance UMBRELLA Premium Increase!
I just noticed a huge increase in American Family Insurance UMBRELLA Premium Increase!
- Last year 2008-09, our premium was $400/year.
- American Family Insurance just sent us a renewal notice for 2009-10 and the invoice is now $1900/year! Wow!
- We have not had any claims in the last 4 years.
Does anyone know why this HUGE jump in Premium? Does it have anything to do w/ the Insurance Industry as a whole (The Wall St fallout, the AIG fallout etc. etc.?).
Thanks.

Curious... what's the reason your Agent gave you? He might know a little more than those of us on a discussion board..

Update,
As it turns out, my nephew who lived temporarily with us while going to college, had a car accident 6 months ago, so insurance companies increase the premium.
After talking to them, the premium is back down to $400/year! Whew!
