Step Out and Serve 2009 in Omaha

(what is your take and comment on this)

Step Out and Serve 2009

I think while helping the community is good, and I am for all helping the community

I wish Omaha's churches would be doing this more than once a year aka helping out the community more than once a year

cause I see so many people hurting in Omaha (spirtually, financially and other wise)

You gotta start somewhere. I think the hope is that this is just the start and that people will continue doing it the rest of the year.

Actually, I think there are a lot of churches that do an enormous amount of good all year long. We just don't hear about them through the media.

A church men's group that I'm involved in actually does construction and maintenance work for several downtown missions. In the past year alone, we did construction work that would have cost these missions over $25,000 to have had done professionally.

It's not a big deal, and we certainly don't do it for the publicity (in fact, we'd rather not have publicity, because it would result in countless requests that we just couldn't fill), but it is being done. And I have a feeling that there are a LOT of other church groups doing things like that.
