I hate when people blame spednding on the Stadium/Qwest Cetner/Ped Bridge

1. The Ped Bridge was FEDERAL Pork.
2. The Arena is very profitable, however the way the bonds and everything work, polititians can "rework them" to make it sound like its costing money, therefore spending money elsewhere.
3. The Stadium was a necessary to keep the College World Series in omaha for another 25 years bringing over a billion dollars to the city over that time. As of now, it has not cost Omaha Residencs any money.

so I should in the name of Omaha spend 9 dollars per movie ticket

as opposed to 4 dollars a movie ticket in Council Bluffs

like I said:

maybe if Marcus Theatres tried to compete price wise with Star Cinema 16 in CB or even tried to compete price wise with Oakview 24

maybe people like me wouldnt be going into CB

more people might go to the movies in Omaha if the prices on this side werent so expensive.

blame Twin Creek and 20 Grand and the one at Village Pointe for being so expensive and not trying to compete price-wise with the one in CB.

the one in CB is part of the http://www.fivebuckclub.net/

maybe if a theatre in Omaha had something like that, me and others wouldnt be going over to CB.

BTW, I started going over to CB to see movies last year cause at least I am getting my money's worth.

either way, it is going to cost me a lot of money

and I am willing to take my chances with my business in CB.

until I see Oakview or the Rave or the 3 Marcus Theatres or Great Escape

have something like the http://www.fivebuckclub.net/

they are going keep losing business.

true, and the difference between the Fahey Baseball Stadium and the Qwest center is:

the qwest center gets used more than 10 days a year

plus we got to vote on the qwest center.

btw:

anyone think to help our economy

getting rid of the free concerts at memorial park

or making them no long free (i.e. charging 5 to 10 dollars per person)

we could use more city money if they werent free. plus our city needs to get out of the recesssion that we are in.

You can do what ever you want, but don't complain about taxes (entertainment tax) when you're giving your money to CB instead of Omaha.

Actually there are many potential uses for the baseball stadium, we could use it for our own State Tournament, there was talk of it being used for Sand Volleyball if we recognize it as a state sport, and outdoor concerts too. We don't know the full potential this stadium has.

so you think that 20 Grand and Village Pointe and the one in Bellevue

should be charging 5 to 6 dollars more a movie ticket than Council Bluffs

is good?

Who goes to Movies anymore?

All the cool folks put in theater rooms with the flats screens and sounds systems and the comfi chairs.

Maybe I should shut up, Suttle might get word of this and put a higher tax on the Nebraska Furniture Mart.....shhhhhhhhhhhhh

Of course not, but not spending local money isn't going to lower those prices.

I see I hit a brick wall with you

I want you to answer my question:

do you feel it is right or wrong that Omaha Theatres dont have something like the

Five Buck Clubâ„¢

as a incentive to keep people from going to CB

or that the Marcus Theatres dont have something like

the 5 dollar movies before noon

like Oakview 24 does

now, I go to Oakview once in a while but I dont live way out west

and If I lived near Oakview, I would go to the Oakview 24 and not the Star Cinema in CB

I also go the Rave in the winter time cause it is a good theatre,

and they serve pizza at the Rave

plus it is at Westroads which has a Suncoast store and some friends I know work at Westroads

and it dont cost as much as the 20 grand or Village Pointe does,

and I wish they had a 4 or 5 dollar movie thing before noon like Star Cinema in CB or even oakview 24 does

cause some of us are on a budget and the economy isnt good right now.

plus I dont get to afford a vacation so going to the movies on the holidays count as my vacation

if Marcus Theatres tried to compete price-wise with CB

so many people wouldnt be going into CB
