Yes, the new Omaha Royals ballpark was just confirmed to be in Papillion around 126th and 370, I believe.

There are quite a few baseball fans here; most of which come out of hiding for the College World Series. The Royals don't get the fan support that they desired. That's one of many reasons why they wanted a smaller ballpark.

Omaha is getting a new ballpark too. It has already broken ground and is located just west of the Qwest Center.

Of course, most football fans here root for the Huskers. Creighton men's basketball is good every year and they have a strong following. Attendance for their games is in the top 15 nationally every year.

Thank you, Dave. You are a wealth of information. Do you know anything about the living situations in Papillion or in Omaha? Rentals, safe, clean?.. neighborhoods to steer clear of (this may not be a problem in NE, but on the east coast, it's a definite concern), best place to get sushi...

Thanks, Omahajosh. Love baseball and so glad to hear about the new ballpark. The Huskers are famous, so I will be sure to start watching them.

Don't ask me about sushi... I don't understand that...

Living in Papillion you have tons of housing options... from the original town area you have homes from the turn of the century to areas with brand new homes... you have rentals in all price ranges... you can buy a home in the original part of town for probably $80-90's to executive level homes above $1mil... I would say the average is probably just shy of $200k....

Papillion specifically there is no area to stay away from. Different story if having a broader conversation about Omaha - but I think a discussion thread is already going on the Omaha part of the conversation.

I'm not a sushi fan but people tell me that the best place to get sushi is Matsu Sushi, located at 10th and Farnam in downtown Omaha.

The two other sushi bars that I've heard of are Hiro Sushi and Blue Sushi Sake; both of which are located in west Omaha. Blue Sushi also has a location in the Old Market (a historic business district of downtown Omaha).

Sakura Bana also does sushi, so does Sushi Japan, Kona Grill also does Sushi. My favorite is Hiro sushi very good and the place is a neat environment. Again, I believe most sushi is in Omaha. My favorite restaurant right now is Dario's Brasserie in Omaha, Belgian food with a great Belgian beer selection. I have also heard The Boiler Room is the newest most experimental restaurant in Omaha, check out their website, just google it. Also check out the Gastronomic Fight Club blog for a good resource for reviews on Omaha area restaurants.

It sees quite a bit of activity but is certainly not overcrowded. Also the Walnut Creek Recreation Center just south of 96th and Highway 370 is a lovely wooded area with a trail that wraps around the lake. There are also camping, fishing and picnic/BBQ spots. I always enjoy going to Walnut Creek.

I believe both trails are dog-friendly. The Walnut Creek trail actually has an artery that turns into the Papio Creek Trail.

are both good trails.

when i was down in Bellevue last year.

I walked on them and it has a country feel when you walk on them.

The newballpark rround breaking is a week from today 8/12/2009.

There is rumored to be a big hotel as part of the development as well as other restaurants.
