The 3mill was a bribe type offer. It did not reflect any dollar amount it would cost to "de" annex.
It was more of a back handed offer...like, "hey Mr. Mayor, here's 3million to shore up your budget shortfall and leave us the hell alone". In a sense...

true.
go ne, do you or anyone else feel it is wrong that MAT bus system refuses to have a bus route in the elkhorn area
cause I am wondering since Omaha has expanded west into elkhorn,
why there arent any new bus routes out there

No its not fair but by being independent they won't gain anything in way of bus service, and MAT stinks anyway, so they don't gain much. There are bus routes in Village Pointe and Lakeside though, if its any better.

village pointe has a express route so that dont count
http://www.metroareatransit.com/html/rt92_4-09T.html
and the bus to lakeside area dont run on sundays
http://www.metroareatransit.com/html/rt15-55_4-09T.html
( dont get me started on the bus system being bad on weekends)
mat stinks cause MAT has allowed it self to get bad
every week I see on mondays a mat bus broken down and having to in for repairs.
people do ride the buses but it's guy like curt simon that have allowed MAT to become a joke
and the fact they dont advertise is one of many reasons the bus system in Omaha is in bad shape.
I BTW ride the mat buses but If I wanted to get west of 120th street, I am screwed.

I would think it would be UN-fair for tax payers to pay for bus service any further than Village Pointe.
Typically bus service makes sense in neighborhoods where the need is prevelent (NOT Elkhorn) and should be a destination area (Once again, not Elkhorn).
The very same reason a bus doesn't stop in my neighborhood.
That's not to say we don't need better public transit, that's just to say we don't have the cash and the people haven't showed the demand to justify any further plans.
