Other than that the one Omaha tax you might pay for is the wheel tax - which I tend to disagree with.
Of course we all pay Omaha sales tax when we shop there - but you do NOT pay Omaha property tax is you live outside of the city limits.

I pay the wheel tax, and I pay to license my dogs from the Omaha Humane Society.
It's a matter of principle that I don't believe I should have to pay wheel tax for each of my 3 vehicles to drive in Omaha. They make money off of me working and shopping in the city.

I agree with you on the Wheel Tax.
As far as working in Omaha, they don't tax that (yet), but Suttle is talking about doing that very thing - so stay tuned.
Shopping yes, but that tax is the same for every town in Nebraska that added the local component, Omaha is no more expensive than any of the others in the State.
Regarding the Omaha Humane Society, that's not an Omaha tax. The Humane Society is private and both Douglas and Sarpy County contract with them for their services, along with most of the cities in Sarpy County.

I'm not usually the massive conspiracy type, but Suttle and a whole host of other influential omaha politicians had their homes assessed at an unusually low rate, in some cases decreasing the value of their homes! If Suttle simply had his home assessed honestly, it would solve a hefty portion of our budget woes.
Meanwhile he's trying to raise property taxes on others who have honestly assessed homes... very corrupt if you ask me.

Did you compare those numbers versus the rest of the population? I believe a lot of assessed values have gone down. I just find it hard to believe that the mayor of Omaha would some how have his property assessment drop, a property assessment which is set by the county assessor. My point is I bet if you look at the numbers nothing is out of the norm, but that requires comparing their numbers against other similar properties in similar areas.

Maybe it is a county thing. I just know that people in the surrounding communities pay a lot less for pet licensing.

Probably a Douglas County thing as I know the Humane Society provides its services to Omaha, Bellevue, Gretna, Papillion, La Vista, Ralston, Springfield and unincorporated Sarpy County - but not sure if they serve unincorporated Douglas County,
Here's the fees I could find:
