Default Cheap, safe apartments in Bellevue/Omaha area.

I recently got a call for a job interview up in Bellevue. My brother lives on base housing there, so if I got the job, I would have a place to stay to get on my feet, but only for a month. I was wondering if anyone has any advice for apartments under $600 that are at least mostly safe. Cheaper places would be great, because I don't know how much I (and a friend) would be making and we both have a good chunk of bills to pay each month.

I found one apartment online that caught my attention called Union Plaza and was also wondering if anyone had any information about that building in particular.

Oh, I forgot to mention I'm just looking for a studio or one bedroom.

Thanks so much in advance.

I can tell you where NOT to live....Huntington Park in Papillion. The management is a joke. I will never again rent from Lund Company.

Is there a particular reason?

I would just stay away from anything in old towne Bellevue or off of Galvin Rd as those are pretty much your "bad" areas

Thanks. We're trying to focus our search a little more towards the Southwest/Midtown/UNO area because it's near our work. Hopefully thats an okay area. We haven't really been here long enough to get a good feel of the place.

Those look pretty nice, but unfortunately we're both making barely over minimum wage and wouldn't really be able to afford them. We both have a good chunk of bills each month and also want to save so we can move within a year or two. We're hoping to stay around $500-$550 a month so we have plenty of wiggle room for utilities and other expenses that may arise.

Default omaha apartments

The Rorick Apartments used to be pretty neat--but may be a bit too far from Bellvue (theyare on Levanworth or St Mary's, near downtown). But I haven't been back for 20 years or so.

The manager gossips about residents to other residents. She went in someone's apartment with no permission and no notice (to drop off a package and snooped around for ten minutes), and her boss (a VP at Lund Company) defended her and said it was okay. They pick and choose which rules they want to enforce based on who the resident is. They allowed an aggressive dog who was a known fighting dog to live on property and he attacked several dogs, including one I was taking care of. They lied to me for months, first telling me the owner would have to pay the vet bill and get rid of the dog. Then they decided to keep giving him chances to keep the dog and said they can't make him pay the bill (even though it was in the lease). They finally kicked the dog out because I put up such a fight.

There was an office sponsored party for residents and the manager and leasing consultant locked themselves in the clubhouse with their boyfriends and drank all day/night. There are brats that run around unsupervised, playing on the roofs of the garages, pulling crap out of the dumpsters, running and riding their bikes by the dog park and harrassing the dogs.

My living room window leaked the whole time I lived there. It was really bad last spring and I called in a work order. Three months later it hadn't been fixed, despite them telling me twice when they would be in to fix it and they never did. The manager had the nerve to tell me it wasn't a problem because it wasn't raining and then she tried to claim I never told them there was damage (which was a lie, I told them when I called in the work order).

There was water damage and mold in my apartment when I moved in, which they "fixed"....when I moved out a couple weeks ago I realized it was back. The carpet was water stained and matted when I moved in and the manager told me it was brand new.

They are liars and I will never rent from Lund Company again.

Good to know. Does anyone know anything about Crosswinds? Its within walking distances to our job, and would save us a lot on gas.
