Are there a lot of Lutherans in Omaha? I live in Scranton, and it seems like 99.9% of the population is Roman Catholic (and die-hard at that). I know Minneapolis is predominantly Lutheran.

Well, I'm Lutheran but Omaha does have a fair amount of Catholics compared to the rest of the surrounding area, but most of our mega churches are non Catholic.

What exactly is a "mega church?" Is it like what you see on television on Sunday mornings (i.e. Crystal Cathedral?) Is it a type of church like in Borat where everyone starts dancing and singing everywhere?

Whoops, I meant non Catholic when I said mega churches.

But Mega Churches are large churches that have more than 2000 members.

There are probably 5-6 "mega churches" in Omaha. I know of 3 for sure, and can think of a few others that are probably large enough to be over 2000 average attenders.

As for the question of catholic/lutheran? There is a large catholic presence in Omaha (I was raised catholic, and my dad was catholic). Lutherans are not a small number either, as my mother's side of the family is Lutheran, as are my in-laws. You will see a number of ELCA as well as Missouri Synod.

UGH! I wish more people here in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre would do that. Here at Lowe's we open on Sundays at 8 AM, and there's always a mass influx of people clawing at the doors starting at 7:45 AM. Right at 8:00 AM they'll go running right in and start pushing call buttons at 8:01 AM when we're all still trying to get organized. Heaven forbid anyone in this valley takes a CHILL PILL! LOL!
