Hello, I'm planning on moving to Omaha from the San Francisco-CA area next april, I lived in CA the last 6 years and I'm afraid the diference is going to be really dramatic. Can someone please tell me about the life in Omaha, NE? I'm 30 and single, my family lives in NE so I wont be alone but I wondering how is social life in NE

Thank you

Socially I guess it depends on how you are now. If you like to go out and be social you could do that in either place. I have my 20 and 30 something single friends and we're a pretty socially active group and our main area to go out is Downtown, where a lot of us live.

What kind of area are you looking to live in? City, suburbs?

well living in California you have many options of things to do, places to go, I guess my question goes that way, what people do for fun in Omaha, is gonna be a big change for me, I just want to know good things about the city

I'll be probably be living close to the city, my sister lives by S 156th, it might be that area too

From my perspective, many people in Omaha drink to have fun. And out west, around 156th, they drink and drive. Because in some, if not most cases, bars (that you want to go to) are a mile or more away from each other. I got bored in west O (suburbs) and moved downtown. Personally, id rather be in the bay area. Hope you're not into the outdoorsy stuff in California... Nebraska just wont compare.

There's no way that I can tell you, "Hey, you're gonna LOVE Omaha!!!!" It just might not be your thing, or might not be great for where you are at this stage of your life.

I can say that - having moved here a little over 3 years ago from Minnesota - my family loves Omaha!

To maintain a healthy mental state in Omaha is to make as many friends as possible.
