I have kind of a weird question. I'm bringing along a friend of mine who is a massage therapist, and she does outcall massage service to hotels only.
She is coming with me to Omaha and will be staying a few months.

She wants to know if there are a lot of business travelers who stay in hotels in Omaha.
She doesn't have a traditional job like me and just wants to earn enough money to pay her rent, etc., while she is here.

Any input from anyone?

Thank you!

Someone contacted me regarding a hotel in Omaha, and it appears I've lost his info. If you would send me a message, I'll reply back. Thank you!

I would maybe be leery of doing that. There was a huge scandal here not long ago over a city councilman trying to get a "massage" from a "therapist" at a hotel. They busted many people but he was the headline grabber. I wouldn't try it honestly. Plus my mother is a licensed massage therapist and opening a new place so I know the business and what your friend does doesn't sound on the up and up.

Actually, I've known her for over 30 years and what you are saying is incorrect, and furthermore, I really don't appreciate the insinuation that she may be doing something illegal. She is totally on the up-and-up, she is licensed, and her ads say NOT sensual, etc.
She also brings a table, relaxing massage music, and professional oils to each outcall appointment. I have, in the past, personally accompanied her to appointments.

Can someone else help me? She just wants to know if there is a lot of hotel business in Omaha, i.e., professional business people staying in hotels.

Thank you for any insight you can provide. I'm just trying to help my friend who doesn't want to register on this site.

I will be working for the State, so I am more fortunate.

DTO Luv does make a good point. And regardless of your friend's business, character and reputation (I have absolutely no doubt she's absolutely legit), there are going to be people who would be gun-shy about such a thing, simply because of what DTO mentioned.

Beyond that, I really don't know how to help you and your friend. Yes, there are a LOT of business persons who stay at hotels and motels in Omaha, but that's not a business in whose circles I run.

Perhaps you could contact the Omaha Chamber of Commerce? Also, I could tell you the names of some of the downtown Omaha hotels if you'd like.

Good luck!

Thank you, O.R., for the info. Considering recent developments, I might wind up in South Dakota, and Laurie might be coming to Omaha. The next three weeks will tell all.

Interesting. Sioux Falls, by chance? I think you'd like that city.

You'd also love Omaha.

No, not S.F. -- it's a State job in Pierre, but I'd rather be in Rapid City.

My family used to live on Carter Lake when I was young, and I remember really liking Council Bluffs and Omaha.

FWIW, I would have been in Omaha by now, but I don't have a J-O-B there. How's the job market for administrative office professionals?

Yeah, I'd prefer Rapid City to Pierre, too! The Black Hills area is beautiful - and Pierre is just kind of out in the middle of nowhere.

And I'm sorry, but I cannot say - with any credibility - what the job market is like, in the area you mentioned. Perhaps somebody else can.

This is pretty common in major cities with business travelers as well as areas with a lot of resorts. Is she wanting to work directly with hotels or just advertise and/or put flyers in lobbies? Omaha does get its share of business travelers, although I honestly don't know if it would be enough to support her during her time there. Various companies are spread throughout the city, but luckily driving from one side of Omaha to the other is much more reasonable than some larger cities. She might try to focus on the downtown area since that is where the Qwest Center is and it also a reasonable concentration of hotels... There are other areas with groups of hotels as well, but this might be a starting point. Another thought might be the casino hotels in Council Bluffs. I don't believe they have their own spas, so they might be interested in creating packages that include in-room massage. The clientele at the casinos is definitely an interesting mix, but this could be something to try.
