For New Year's Eve, Omaha Venues Pitch Deals To Revelers
POSTED: 4:06 pm CST December 30, 2009
UPDATED: 5:37 pm CST December 30, 2009

OMAHA, Neb. -- Bars and restaurants around town are hoping to pack in New Year's revelers, despite signs that the revelers will be spending less money on the festivities this year.

Economic strains have perhaps made revelers more budget conscious this year. Entertainment venues are responding with deals and holding out hope for crowds.

A recent survey by the Wine and Spirits Wholesalers of America found that more people said they're staying in this year.

It also found that liquor store sales are flat or slightly higher. Consumers continue to buy alcohol, but their drink of choice is cheaper, according to the organization.

Omaha event planner LaKeisha Cox said she's had "wonderful sales" so far.

Cox was promoting an night at the Hilton Omaha in downtown. An all-inclusive, $300 package would get a couple a hotel room, dinner, an open bar and dancing.
