You do become all consumed for some time, at least in the beginning stages, as you gather all your censuses and other easy to find info... then you hit a wall and its easier to pull yourself away for a time.

When I was only working 4 days a week, I volunteered a couple of months at the Douglas County Archives scanning historical newspaper articles. It was cool because I didn't have to commit to it, just came and went as I wanted. Once I was a volunteer, they let me have access to dig through their records and other materials myself. If you are interested in Omaha history I definitely recommend it!
