Candy burglar leaves bloody trail

Omaha.com - The Omaha World-Herald: Metro/Region

Police followed a trail of blood and candy Tuesday night that led to a case of burglary at Omaha Central High School.

The incident began about 9 p.m. Tuesday when a young man approached a worker at the school and asked to use a phone because his ride hadn't shown up. The youth was allowed inside to make a call.

About a half hour later, the worker saw the young man walking down a hallway and told him if his ride didn't show up soon, the worker would have to call police.

Minutes later, the worker heard a crash in an office where candy is stored. He found broken glass and blood. When police arrived, they followed a trail of fruit snacks, Twix and 3 Musketeer candy bars, along with blood, to a gymnasium exit but didn't find the youth.

Later, police were alerted to a 16-year old who had checked in at Creighton University Medical Center with cuts. The teen was arrested on suspicion of burglary.

It was not known whether the young man was a student at Central.

Stupid people do stupid things, and sometimes even good people make bad choices.

I don't know what category either of these people falls into - though I really cannot begin to imagine that having sex with a 15-year old was worth the consequences this teacher is going to pay.

That's the best tried and true rape defense in history. Call her a lying *****. It's worked for men for centuries.

True.

But that story isn't coming from him. It's coming from her friends.

I hope for everyone's sake it's a made up story. Sad for the girl; sad for the teacher's family; just sad, sad, sad.

Just like false accusations of rape have worked for women for centuries.
