Omaha.com - The Omaha World-Herald: Money - Pamida shuts down big-city experiment

Omaha’s first and only Pamida store has closed less than two years after opening.

“Unfortunately, the store hasn’t met our minimum financial expectations,” said Dean Williamson, Pamida’s vice president of human resources and legal affairs.

Omaha-based Pamida Stores Operating Co. opened the store near 90th and Maple Streets in March 2008 to test how well one of the chain’s stores would do in a larger community.

Pamida stores — which sell merchandise including apparel, home electronics, seasonal items, toys, housewares and groceries — typically are situated in smaller communities underserved by major retailers, or towns with populations of 7,000 or fewer, Williamson said.

I can honestly say I don't recall ever seeing any kind of advertising for them. Is there anything they sell that I can't get at Wally World?
