In other words, you were admitted regardless of your aptitude. This was especially true before the 1970's. It was a form of discrimination favoring the ruling class in America.
Not only are legacy students admitted, but they rarely failed. The proverbial "gentleman's 'C' " wasn't really a passing grade of "C", but rather a code-word for 'failure'. There were loads of dumb rich kids in the Ivy League back in the day, but they were careful to stay away from subject areas that were graded quantitatively (math, hard science, engineering, medicine, law). They usually ended up in business school or the liberal arts.
Right. Thanks, Daily Kos!

Yeah. And I heard that Obama isn't a citizen, that he's a Muslim Terrorist, that he never went to college, and that he's actually the AntiChrist.

Just sayin'.

I do think Obama may be your typical dirty, corrupt Chicago politician after recent events.

Kind of a Wolf in Sheeps Clothing, if I must say...

Sure would suck if that turns out to be the case - and I hope it isn't, for a lot of reasons.

But he sure has seemed to have his toes in a lot of sewage. It never seems to catch up with him, but everything from Ayers to Jeremiah Wright to Franklin Raynes. It's all just a little troubling.

Well if you believe that people are the same people who they surround themselves with, then he may have some corrupt tendencies.

that's what I've heard.

j/k.

I think there are a lot of questions around him....and honestly...he rose to power really quickly. It's amazing how little people actually know about the guy even now. Or how little actual executive experience he has. I think people are just kind of nervous about who the guy is, and what he had to do to get where he is.

My biggest worry is that he wants to take from the working and give to the lazy.

I realize social assistance isn't exclusively for the lazy, but a lot of it is. I'm just not ok with that. "Pay Your Own Way!"

Exactly. This Mandatory Redistribution of Wealth is NOT a good thing!

..."may be"? I guess you can only hope that he's corrupt, huh? Well, he 'may be' a transvestite, or he 'may be' a serial killer, or he 'may be' a child molester. Let's really really hope that we can find some dirt in his background so we can finally destroy the guy. Please, God, help us find some dirt so we can fulfill our Christian duty to the Republican Party.
