Ever think about that?

The last grizzly bear was killed in Cleveland National Forest (Holy Jim area) in 1908. It's pretty ****ing cool to think that huge grizzly bears used to roam that part of SoCal. There are enough houses, enough people, enough cars already. Let's keep some places wild for a change. Environmentalists.....yeah let's label everyone an "environmentalist" because they want to preserve the last tracts of wilderness for their future generations to enjoy. Idiots!
I'm a believer. Go Green!

Well at least you're being truthful about it.

I personally would use light rail if OC built it.

You might include Houston into your list of potential cities. It has a very large Asian population (and a large-ish Chinese population) and some nice and affordable neighborhoods. It's ungodly hot and humid, sure, but you're coming from Florida, so you know what that's all about.

Now, I confess, I think Houston fairly well blows. However, I'd so choose that Purgatory-on-the-Gulf over living in the IE and commuting to Orange County every day.

I have a Chinese friend who moved to Sugarland Tx from Anaheim and just loves it. However, he doesn't mind living on a postage stamp, cookie cutter lot.

If I live anywhere other than Socal, I'm going to have land. That's one of the big reasons I don't like Phoenix. Again, postage stamp lots.

Makes sense. Though I'm currently living in San Antonio for work and like it well enough, I just spent a year in Austin and hope to move back there fairly soon. It has a decent sized Asian community and is truly my favorite city in the US. Unless you were willing to do a long commute, though, you'd again be stuck on a small lot.

I guess I'd just rent in OC then, if I had your love of the place (I miss things about OC, but not OC as a whole). You'll be able to spend more time enjoying your locale, instead of just seeing it in your rearview mirror ever day as you drive home from work to a depressing, nondescript, smog-enshrouded IE housing tract,

Thanks for mentioning Austin.. I've heard a lot of good things about that city and I'm going to go over to the texas side of this forum and investigate.

I just popped over to the Austin forum and at a glance I don't see how Austin can compare to Orange County. What differences do you support in Austin over SoCal?

For starters, you can buy a house there for $200k and there's no state income tax.

yeah, but I see there's a City tax. According to what I read on their community college website.

Cost per credit hour:

42.00 If you pay the city tax.
150..00 If you don't pay the city tax.

So don't live in the city.
