Question Best hospital in South OC to have a baby and OB recommendation, please...

So, I think I may be pregnant with my third child. I had my first two children in the Seattle area, where healthcare is awesome. I'm high risk (I'm fat and I have blood pressure problems, and my second was born 6 weeks early and spent 10 days in the NICU, though I was told it was not because of either of those factors), so I need a hospital with a good NICU just in case.

I'm also looking for a top notch OBGYN. My OB in WA was the head of obstetrics at the hospital I delivered, and he was awesome. To give you an idea of the type of doctor he is, when I was in labor with my son, I had been in labor for about 10 or so hours, and he came in and told me he had to attend a funeral and would be back as soon as he could. About 2 hours later he came back, and came into my room still in his suit. He had come in to see if he had time to change clothes, otherwise he was just going to deliver my baby in his suit. I was totally floored. That's the kind of doctor he is.

That's the kind of doctor I'm looking for in South Orange County.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

V. =)

I do not know anybody in OC that would deliver for you in a suit

Mission and Hoag are both great hospitals. Most of the time you are going to go with an OB that is part of a group, so when you go in labor more likely than not another doc might do the delivery.

Hi there!

I've had both of my baby boys with Dr. Charles W Moniak at Hoag Hospital. The doctor was very caring and patient, he would be there for your birth no matter what. With my second child I've had very low waters and he was checking on me every day just to make sure the baby is doing fine, but at the same time trying to keep him in as long as possible as he was so small. He induced me at 38 weeks. If you decide to contact him, here are the details:

320 Superior Avenue
Newport Beach, CA 92663
(949) 645-7870

Hoag is also a wonderful hospital. It is extremely family friendly, the staff is always nice and caring. They also have free classes you can attend now.

Anyway, enjoy your pregnancy and wish you a healthy baby at the end!

Thank you so much! He sounds exactly like the type of doctor I'm looking for!

Wife had 2 at Hoag - Let me add a third vote for Hoag as well. Very happy with the hospital & the nurses ( who, lets face it, are 90% of the experience) were awesome.

Just how far south? Mission Hosital in Mission Viejo has an excellent neonatal.....my girl was in it for 2 weeks.

I'm sorry, but I have no suggestions on an ob.....mine died a few years back with pancreatic cancer....I will miss him forever.....he was the best!
